Ingredients

1/4 cup softened butter

1 1/2 ounces semi-sweet baking chocolate, chopped

1 cup chocolate chips

3 large eggs

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

3/4 cup plus 1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon all-purpose flour (for coating chips)

1/3 cup milk chocolate chips (for frosting)

3 cups powdered sugar

1/3 cup heavy cream

2-4 tablespoons milk

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x9-inch baking pan and set aside.

  2. In a blender, combine the softened butter, chopped semi-sweet baking chocolate, and 1 cup of chocolate chips. Blend on medium speed until the chocolate is fully melted and mixed with the butter, about 1-2 minutes.

  3. Add the eggs, cocoa powder, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt to the blender. Blend on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and well combined, about 1-2 minutes. Stop and scrape down the sides if needed.

  4. Add the 3/4 cup plus 1 1/2 tablespoons of flour to the blender and pulse gently just a few times until the flour is barely combined—do not overmix.

  5. In a small bowl, toss the additional 1/3 cup milk chocolate chips with 1 teaspoon of flour and shake off any excess flour. Gently fold these coated chips into the blender batter using a spatula, being careful not to break up the chips.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.

  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but is not wet with batter.

  8. Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan, about 30 minutes.

  9. To make the frosting, combine the milk chocolate chips, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and 2-4 tablespoons of milk in a blender (or use a hand mixer and bowl). Beat until smooth and creamy, adding more milk a tablespoon at a time if needed to reach a spreadable consistency.

  10. Spread the frosting generously over the cooled brownies. Cut into 9 squares and serve.
