Investor Relations
A diversified, technology-led platform addressing both sides of the grocery market — consumers and independent retailers.
Why we exist
↑ Back to topGrocery List Plus is built around a simple observation: it doesn't take much to look around and see people who are close to starving, while food gets thrown out by the ton.
The burden of food insecurity is not distributed evenly. Low-income households face it at roughly 8×the rate of higher-income ones (USDA, 2023). Communities of color face compounded disadvantage from redlining, food-desert geography, and wage gaps — Black and Hispanic households are 2× more likely to be food-insecure than white households at the same income.
Existing grocery-tech players charge item markups of 15–25%, plus service fees, plus tips — totaling 40–50% morethan in-store prices. For a household stretching an EBT allotment, that math is hostile. We build for families on tight budgets — which in practice means serving communities that have been structurally underserved by grocery-tech until now.
Every feature we ship is evaluated against that standard before it's evaluated against a P&L.
The Opportunity
↑ Back to topU.S. consumers spend over $1.5 trillion annually on groceries, yet most still plan with a paper list and shop the same store out of habit. Price differences of 20–40% on identical items between nearby chains go uncaptured, and food waste from unplanned shopping costs the average household roughly $1,500 per year.
Independent grocers, farmers markets, butcher shops, and specialty producers — the other half of this market — face an existential squeeze. They lack the technology budgets to compete with the national chains and online retail giants on catalog, loyalty, and discovery. Most close within a decade of opening.
Grocery List Plus addresses both sides of that gap with a single platform, priced honestly.
The Company
↑ Back to topGrocery List Plus is a cutting-edge technology company dedicated to revolutionizing the grocery shopping experience through its mobile application and website. Established with a vision to integrate modern technology into grocery shopping seamlessly, the company is committed to providing consumers and independent and small-chain grocery stores with a comprehensive, user-centric platform.
Our mission is to empower individuals to plan meals efficiently, make healthier food choices, and simplify the grocery shopping process — and simultaneously to equip small and independent grocery businesses with the tools necessary to thrive in the digital age, ensuring they can offer the same advanced features as their larger counterparts.
Our Products
↑ Back to topGrocery List Plus
Consumer mobile + web app. Marketplace and scheduled delivery from local farms, butcher shops, bakeries, and independent grocers — providing online ordering and delivery infrastructure that small vendors cannot afford on their own. Zero markup on grocery prices. Working toward becoming the first local-food marketplace to accept SNAP/EBT. Multi-store price comparison, a growing library of original recipes with healthier-swap engine, meal planning, real-time food recall alerts. Free tier forever; Silver, Gold, and Platinum monthly and annual subscriptions; optional $5.99 one-time ad-removal in-app purchase.
Local Vendor Network
Direct partnerships with farmers markets, butcher shops, fishmongers, bakeries, dairies, and specialty food producers. Vendors claim a free listing; paid placements (Featured and Promoted tiers) put their goods in front of nearby shoppers alongside the national brands. Already 7,000+ farmers markets seeded into the platform.
Revenue Streams
↑ Back to topWe have intentionally diversified revenue from day one rather than building a single-source business that breaks if one channel underperforms.
- Consumer subscriptions — Silver, Gold, and Platinum monthly and annual recurring tiers ($9.99/$15.99/$26.99 per month respectively), plus an optional $5.99 one-time ad-removal in-app purchase. The primary MVP revenue channel.
- Local vendor placements — Featured and Promoted listing tiers for farmers markets, butcher shops, bakeries, and other independent food producers who want visibility to nearby shoppers.
- Advertising and partnerships — sponsored placements for national brands and CPG manufacturers, with strict transparency to the user.
- Anonymized data products — aggregated, opt-in shopping insights for CPG brands and market researchers. Users opt in; we never sell individual-level data.
- Online ordering and delivery— a future channel once we can ship it in a way that doesn't extract from the households we serve (see Roadmap below). We are explicitly deferring this rather than launching a high-markup integration at the expense of our users.
Traction & Status
↑ Back to topGrocery List Plus is in late-stage pre-launch with a June 20 MVP 1.0 ship date for web and mobile in Charlotte and Cincinnati. Chain-store delivery follows in MVP 1.1 (July 1), and the full local-vendor marketplace — including online ordering and scheduled delivery for small independent stores who cannot afford their own logistics — lands in MVP 2 (August 1).
We have established the technical foundation that competitors typically take years to build:
- Live pricing integrations with major grocery chains, refreshed throughout the day, with additional retailer partnerships in the pipeline.
- Over 7,000 farmers markets seeded into the platform to support the local vendor side of the network.
- An original recipe library generated in-house from nutrition-database facts and owned outright, with proprietary healthier-substitution capabilities.
- Production AWS infrastructure with multi-environment CI/CD, full observability, and SOC-aligned security practices.
- Zero markup on grocery prices — a fundamental cost-of-ownership advantage over delivery-aggregator platforms that mark up shelf prices 10–25%.
- Working toward FNS authorization to accept SNAP/EBT — a first for the local-food-marketplace category and a meaningful access expansion for households who today are excluded from delivery convenience.
- Online ordering and delivery infrastructure built for small independent vendors who cannot afford their own logistics stack — turning the platform into a force multiplier for local food economies.

Forward Roadmap
↑ Back to topBeyond the consumer and small-grocer products, the platform supports a multi-year expansion thesis. Near-term priorities include the consumer mobile launch, vendor onboarding, and the first cohort of national brand partnerships. Medium-term roadmap items include:
- Voice command integration for hands-free list management
- In-app nutritionist consultations
- Integration with health monitoring devices and wearables
- International market expansion, starting with Spanish-speaking regions
- White-label deployments for regional grocery chains
Leadership
↑ Back to topRod Davis— Founder. Two decades in software engineering and product leadership, with prior experience building and shipping consumer and B2B platforms. Sole founder; current operating team includes a small technical and design group with additional executive hires planned around an institutional round.
Detailed founder bio and team backgrounds available on request.
Capital partners we are looking for
↑ Back to topBecause our mission and our business model are tightly coupled, we are selective about the capital we take. We are actively engaging with:
- Mission-aligned impact investors — firms that fund food access, social determinants of health, and community economic development. Examples of investor types we fit: Acumen, Echoing Green, Kapor Capital, Better Ventures, Omidyar Network, regional CDFIs.
- Foundations and federal / state programs — Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Rockefeller, USDA Community Food Projects, state and city economic development grants.
- Strategic retailers and CPG partners — where alignment on transparent pricing and honest user experience is non-negotiable.
We are not pursuing traditional consumer-growth VC capital on terms that would require us to compromise on pricing transparency or to extract value from the users we exist to serve.
Privacy, Security & Governance
↑ Back to topTrust is foundational to a platform that handles household-level shopping data. We operate against a clear set of principles:
- We do not sell personal data to third parties.
- All consumer-facing surfaces target WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility.
- Infrastructure runs on AWS with industry-standard security controls, encryption in transit and at rest, and Stripe for all payment processing.
- Privacy policies and terms are kept current and transparent — see /privacy and /terms-and-conditions.
