Ingredients

¾ cups Semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

1½ cups Graham cracker crumbs or digestive biscuit crumbs

¼ cup Pistachios, finely chopped

2 tablespoons Milk

3 tablespoons Condensed milk

as needed Ghee or butter, for greasing

Directions

  1. Combine milk, chocolate chips, and condensed milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.

  2. Remove the pan from heat. Add the graham cracker crumbs and chopped pistachios to the chocolate mixture.

  3. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture resembles a sticky dough.

  4. Allow the mixture to cool until warm enough to handle comfortably with your fingers.

  5. Lightly grease a modak mold with ghee or butter. Also grease your fingers with ghee to prevent sticking.

  6. Spoon a small portion of the chocolate dough into the greased mold and gently press to fill all crevices, then turn out onto a plate. Repeat with remaining mixture to form 12 modaks.

  7. Allow the completed modaks to cool and set at room temperature before serving.

Chocolate Modak checks all the major boxes for a Charlotte weeknight: every ingredient lives at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Kroger, or Walmart, with no hunting required. The cost runs about $0.75 per serving, driven by chocolate chips and condensed milk—reasonable for a dessert that feeds twelve. The thirty-minute claim is honest if you count just assembly and chilling, though the modak molds themselves may not be in stock at every location and may require an online order. This is a make-ahead dessert that holds beautifully, perfect for meal prep or entertaining, though it needs advance chilling time and offers no leftovers problem at all.
