Ingredients
15 small sprigs fresh mint, plus additional sprigs for garnish if desired
5 sprigs fresh shiso, plus additional sprigs for garnish if desired
4 cups boiling water
Directions
Gently rinse the mint and shiso sprigs under cool water to remove any dust or debris, then pat dry with a clean towel. Lightly bruise the leaves by gently pressing them between your hands to release their aromatic oils.
Place the bruised mint and shiso sprigs into a teapot or heat-safe glass pitcher.
Pour the 4 cups of boiling water slowly over the herb sprigs, ensuring all leaves are submerged.
Cover the pot or pitcher and allow the tisane to steep for 5 to 8 minutes, depending on your preference for a lighter or stronger infusion.
Strain the herbs from the liquid using a fine-mesh strainer, discarding the spent sprigs.
Pour the tisane into two cups and serve immediately while hot, or allow to cool to room temperature and refrigerate for a chilled version. Garnish with additional fresh mint or shiso sprigs if desired.
