Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter, melted

3 teaspoons miso paste

1 tablespoon mirin

2 tablespoons sake

1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, miso paste, mirin, and sake until the miso is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

  2. Add the raw shrimp to the bowl and toss gently until all pieces are evenly coated with the miso-butter glaze. Let sit for a few minutes if desired.

  3. For grill pan method: Heat a large grill pan over high heat. Once hot, add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook for about 1½ minutes per side until the shrimp are opaque and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F or the flesh should be fully opaque and firm).

  4. For broiler method: Preheat your oven to Broil setting and position the rack about 8 inches below the heating element. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Arrange the shrimp in a single layer on the prepared pan. Broil for approximately 2 minutes per side until the shrimp are opaque and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F or the flesh should be fully opaque and firm).

  5. Transfer the cooked shrimp to a serving plate and drizzle any remaining glaze from the pan over the top. Serve immediately while warm.
