Ingredients
¼ cup Brown sugar
¾ cup Water
1 cup Ketchup
1 tsp Prepared mustard
2 tbsp White vinegar
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp-2 tsp Corn starch mixed with equal parts water, as needed for thickening
1½ lbs Shaved deli ham
Hamburger buns or rolls
Directions
In a large skillet or saucepan, combine the water, ketchup, mustard, white vinegar, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Place over high heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring gently, to allow the flavors to meld together.
While the sauce simmers, prepare a slurry by mixing corn starch with an equal amount of water. Once the sauce has simmered, slowly add the corn starch slurry while stirring constantly, adding just enough to reach your desired sauce thickness. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy, about 1-2 minutes.
Add the shaved deli ham to the pan, gently folding it into the sauce. Heat through over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes until the ham is warmed through and well-coated with the BBQ sauce.
Lightly toast your hamburger buns or rolls if desired. Divide the warm BBQ ham mixture evenly among the buns and serve immediately.
