Ingredients
1 apple
1 black plum, pitted
2 stalks celery
2 cucumbers
1-inch piece fresh ginger root
1 lemon, peeled
½ lime, peeled
2 leaves mustard greens
Directions
Rinse all produce under cool running water, scrubbing gently to remove any dirt or debris. If the cucumbers are not organic, peel them with a vegetable peeler; otherwise, you may juice them unpeeled for added nutrients.
Cut the apple into quarters, removing the core. Pit the plum if not already done. Cut the cucumbers into spears or chunks. Leave the celery stalks, ginger root, lemon, and lime whole or cut into sizes that fit your juicer's feed tube. Tear or fold the mustard green leaves into manageable pieces.
Feed all ingredients through your juicer according to the manufacturer's instructions, alternating between denser and softer produce to maximize extraction efficiency. Collect the fresh juice in a pitcher or directly into serving glasses.
Fill two glasses with ice cubes. Divide the fresh juice evenly between the glasses and serve immediately while cold and at peak freshness.
Comments
Mustard greens are a Charlotte staple—North Carolina grows them year-round—and every ingredient here is stocked at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Walmart, and ALDI, making this a true convenience-store juice. At roughly $1.50 to $2.00 per serving depending on produce prices, it is competitive for fresh juice. The stated 10 minutes is honest for running a juicer, but budget an extra 5 minutes for washing and rough-chopping; the real total is 15 minutes. This is a same-night drink with no leftovers—juice oxidizes within a few hours—so it suits someone juicing on demand rather than batch-prepping, and the small 2-serving yield means a juicer owner, not a crowd.
