Ingredients
2 tbsp Sun-dried galangal strips
3 cups Water
2 tsp Honey (optional)
Directions
Add the sun-dried galangal strips to a saucepan and pour in the water.
Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the galangal infuses its flavor and aroma into the water.
Remove from heat and carefully strain the tea into cups, discarding the galangal solids.
Serve the tea warm. Stir in honey if desired for sweetness, or enjoy it plain for a pure, aromatic galangal experience.
Comments
Galangal is not a stock item at Charlotte's major chains—Harris Teeter and Food Lion carry it sporadically in the produce section, but a trip to an Asian market like H-Mart or Lee's is the reliable play, making this a weekend project rather than a weeknight reach. The recipe itself is dirt cheap once you have the galangal, just three ingredients, and the 12 minutes is honest. It's a sipping tea that doesn't need company or follow-up eating, but it's not a make-ahead—you brew it fresh each time, so plan for same-night only.
