Ingredients
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
Directions
Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves completely, creating a clear simple syrup. This should take 3 to 4 minutes.
Remove the syrup from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature, about 5 to 7 minutes. You can speed this process by transferring it to a shallow bowl.
While the syrup cools, prepare the citrus juices. If not already done, squeeze the lemons and limes to obtain fresh juice. Strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove pulp and seeds.
Pour the cooled simple syrup into a clean glass pitcher or bottle. Add the fresh lemon juice and lime juice, stirring well to combine thoroughly.
Refrigerate the sour mix until chilled, at least 30 minutes, or use immediately. Store in a sealed glass container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
