Recipe GLPR4c7970458321c4
A warming spiced cocktail that combines smooth whiskey with bright lemon juice and homemade ginger syrup. The ginger syrup is prepared fresh by simmering sliced ginger with sugar and water, creating a fragrant base that balances the tartness of lemon and the boldness of whiskey. Served over ice and garnished with a lemon slice and cherry, this drink offers a perfect blend of sweet, sour, and spicy notes.

Ingredients
2 ounces fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
2 cups water
2 ounces whiskey
1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
ice cubes
1 lemon slice, for garnish
1 maraschino cherry, for garnish
Directions
In a small saucepan, combine the sliced ginger, sugar, and water. Place over medium-high heat and bring to a boil.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely and the ginger infuses the syrup.
Remove from heat and carefully strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean bowl, discarding the ginger solids. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled, about 25 minutes.
Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice cubes. Pour the whiskey, 1 ounce of the chilled ginger syrup, and the freshly squeezed lemon juice into the glass.
Stir well to combine all ingredients. Garnish with a lemon slice and a maraschino cherry. Serve immediately.
