Ingredients

1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed

½ tablespoon cornstarch

½ teaspoon ground allspice

2 cups cranberry juice

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

¼ cup seedless raisins

2 ham slices, about 1/2 inch thick

Directions

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before starting.

  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, cornstarch, and allspice. Mix well to break up any lumps.

  3. Slowly pour the cranberry juice into the sugar mixture while stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.

  4. Add the lemon juice and raisins to the saucepan and stir to combine.

  5. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and comes to a gentle boil, about 5-7 minutes.

  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a baking dish that will fit the ham slices.

  7. Arrange the first ham slice in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

  8. Pour half of the cranberry sauce evenly over the first ham slice.

  9. Place the second ham slice on top of the sauce.

  10. Pour the remaining cranberry sauce over the top ham slice, spreading it evenly.

  11. Cover the baking dish with foil or a lid and bake in the preheated 350°F oven for 45 minutes until the ham is heated through.

  12. Remove from the oven, let cool for 2 minutes, then serve hot.
