Ingredients

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1¼ cups granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon almond extract

1½ cups all-purpose flour

pinch salt

42 ounces cherry pie filling

1 cup fresh blueberries

⅓ cup powdered sugar

2 teaspoons milk

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly butter a 9x13 inch baking dish and set aside.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. Add the eggs and almond extract to the butter mixture and beat until well combined.

  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing half a cup at a time, stirring until the flour is fully incorporated and the batter is smooth.

  5. Spread two-thirds of the batter evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

  6. Spread the cherry pie filling over the batter layer, then scatter the fresh blueberries over the top. Drop small dollops of the remaining batter over the filling and berries.

  7. Bake for 45-55 minutes, until the cake topping is light golden brown.

  8. Remove from the oven and transfer to a cooling rack. Allow the bars to cool completely.

  9. To make the glaze, combine the powdered sugar with 1 teaspoon of milk in a small bowl. Stir well, then add additional milk a few drops at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

  10. Once the bars are completely cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top. Let the glaze set before serving.
