Ingredients
1 cup Heavy cream
¼ cup Granulated sugar
3 cups Strong hot brewed coffee
4 ounces Irish whiskey
Directions
Pour the heavy cream into a mixing bowl and whip with a whisk or electric mixer until soft peaks form, adding 2 tablespoons of the sugar gradually as you whip. Set the whipped cream aside.
Divide the Irish whiskey evenly among four Irish coffee glasses or heatproof glasses (about 1 ounce per glass).
Add 1/4 teaspoon of the remaining sugar to each glass with the whiskey.
Pour 3/4 cup of the hot brewed coffee into each glass, stirring gently to dissolve the sugar.
Top each glass generously with the whipped cream, pouring it gently over the back of a spoon so it floats on the surface. Serve immediately while the coffee is still hot.
Comments
Every ingredient is a staple at any Charlotte grocery chain, and the cost per serving is under $1.50 even at premium prices for Irish whiskey and fresh cream. The stated five minutes is honest and even generous—it's truly pour-and-whip. This is a show-stopper for a dinner party or weekend dessert that does not reheat, so plan to serve it fresh, but the speed and simplicity make it perfect for that role.
