Ingredients

2½ whole ripe bananas

1% milk

chocolate syrup

Directions

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before beginning.

  2. Select bananas that are very ripe with mostly brown skin. Peel and slice each banana into round pieces about 1/2 inch thick.

  3. Arrange the banana slices on a baking sheet lined with plastic wrap. Place in the freezer for at least 8 hours or overnight until completely frozen solid.

  4. Remove frozen banana slices from the freezer. Transfer them to a food processor or blender. Add the 3 tablespoons of milk.

  5. Pulse the food processor or blender several times until the frozen banana pieces begin to break apart into smaller chunks.

  6. Stop and use a spoon or rubber spatula to scrape down the sides of the blender or food processor, pushing the mixture back toward the blades.

  7. Continue processing, pulsing and scraping as needed, until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy, resembling soft-serve ice cream. This may take several minutes.

  8. Divide the banana ice cream among serving bowls or cones. If desired, drizzle lightly with chocolate syrup on top and serve immediately.
