Ingredients

2 3.4-ounce packages Instant vanilla pudding mix

2 cups Whole milk

1 14-ounce can Sweetened condensed milk

1 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice

½ cup Amaretto liqueur

1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

2 8-ounce containers Frozen whipped topping, thawed

8 ounces Vanilla wafer cookies

5 Fresh bananas, sliced

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix, whole milk, and sweetened condensed milk until the mixture is smooth and completely blended.

  2. Stir the fresh lemon juice, amaretto liqueur, and vanilla extract into the pudding mixture until all ingredients are well combined.

  3. Gently fold the thawed whipped topping into the pudding mixture until no white streaks remain, being careful not to deflate the whipped topping.

  4. In a large glass serving bowl, begin layering by spreading a portion of the pudding mixture on the bottom. Add a layer of sliced bananas, followed by a layer of vanilla wafer cookies. Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of pudding mixture on top.

  5. Cover the serving bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until ready to serve, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly.

Every ingredient is a standard pantry or freezer staple at every Charlotte chain, so no special trips required. The 30-minute time is honest for assembly only, though slicing bananas and thawing whipped topping at room temperature would realistically add five to ten minutes if you're not starting with a thawed container. At twelve servings using boxed pudding mix and wafers, the cost per serving lands around $0.60 to $0.75, making it genuinely affordable for a crowd. The real limitation is that banana pudding is strictly a same-night dessert—the wafers soften overnight and bananas brown, so leftovers are limp textural disappointment rather than a bonus day-two meal.
