Ingredients
12 to 16 medium fresh limes
14 ounces sugar
24 ounces cold water
Directions
Rinse all limes thoroughly under cool running water and pat dry with a clean towel.
Roll each lime firmly on the countertop, pressing down with the palm of your hand and rotating it to soften the flesh inside, which will help release more juice during extraction.
Cut the limes in half and juice them completely using a citrus juicer or manual press, collecting all the liquid in a bowl. You should yield approximately 2 cups of fresh lime juice.
In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lime juice and sugar, stirring vigorously until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Add the cold water and stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients evenly.
Refrigerate the limeade for at least 3 to 4 hours, or until very cold, to allow the flavors to meld and develop.
Stir well before serving and pour into glasses over ice if desired. Serve chilled.
