Ingredients
1 can (15 ounces) fruit cocktail, drained
2 bananas, sliced
2 oranges, cut into bite-size pieces
2 apples, cut into bite-size pieces
1 container (8 ounces) low-fat piña colada yogurt
Directions
Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and warm water before beginning preparation.
Drain the canned fruit cocktail and add it to a large mixing bowl.
Peel and slice the bananas into rounds, then add them to the bowl.
Peel the oranges and cut them into bite-size pieces, removing any excess white pith. Add to the bowl.
Wash the apples, remove the cores, and cut them into bite-size pieces. Add them to the bowl with the other fruits.
Pour the piña colada yogurt into the bowl with all the fruit.
Gently fold and mix all ingredients together until the yogurt is evenly distributed throughout the fruit.
Transfer the salad to a serving bowl or individual containers and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Comments
This is an honest ten-minute assembly with no special shopping: fruit cocktail, banana, orange, and apple are everywhere at any Charlotte chain, and yogurt is a staple. At fourteen servings the cost per serving lands around $0.45–$0.55, driven mainly by the canned fruit and yogurt, making it budget-friendly for a crowd. The real catch is that fruit salad is best eaten the same day—the apples brown, the banana softens—so plan this for immediate serving at a party or potluck, not as a make-ahead weeknight side. It's a safe, crowd-pleasing choice with zero pretense, but lacks the staying power of a dish you can refrigerate for tomorrow.
