Ingredients
4 ounces unsalted butter
8 ounces Irish whiskey
1½ ounces brown butter-infused Irish whiskey
½ ounce maple syrup
1 ounce coconut cream
1 pinch sea salt
to taste hot coffee
1 cinnamon stick
Directions
In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat, swirling occasionally. Continue heating until the milk solids brown and develop a nutty aroma, about 5–7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Pour the cooled brown butter into a glass jar with the Irish whiskey. Stir gently to combine, then seal and let infuse for at least 2 hours at room temperature, or up to overnight, for deeper flavor.
Measure 1½ ounces of the brown butter-infused whiskey and pour into a warm coffee mug.
Add the maple syrup, coconut cream, and a pinch of sea salt to the mug.
Pour fresh hot coffee into the mug to taste, stirring well to combine all ingredients until smooth and integrated.
Garnish the rim or surface of the drink with a cinnamon stick and serve immediately while hot.
Comments
This is a straightforward single-serving drink with no ingredient hunt—everything lands at any major Charlotte chain, and coconut cream is common enough now that you will not need a special trip. The cost per serving runs around $3 to $4 when you factor in quality coffee and mid-shelf whiskey, which is reasonable for a treat. The real caveat is honesty: brown-butter work takes three to five minutes alone, plus heating and whisking time, so budget closer to fifteen or twenty minutes, not ten. This is not a weeknight routine drink but a weekend sip for someone who enjoys a slow morning ritual.
