Ingredients

3 cups Heavy whipping cream

7 tablespoons Sugar

1 cup Irish whiskey

6 cups Rich, hot brewed coffee

Ground nutmeg or cinnamon (optional garnish)

Directions

  1. Pour the heavy whipping cream into a chilled bowl and whip with an electric mixer or whisk until soft peaks form. Add 3 tablespoons of the sugar and continue whipping until the mixture reaches stiff peaks and is light and fluffy. Set aside.

  2. Brew strong, rich coffee and divide the hot coffee among 8 heat-safe glasses or mugs (about 3/4 cup per serving).

  3. Add 2 tablespoons of Irish whiskey to each glass of hot coffee, stirring gently to combine.

  4. Add 1/2 teaspoon of the remaining sugar to each drink and stir until dissolved.

  5. Top each glass with a generous spoonful of the whipped cream, allowing it to float on the surface of the warm coffee.

  6. If desired, lightly dust the whipped cream with ground nutmeg or cinnamon. Serve immediately and enjoy by sipping the coffee through the cream layer.

All five ingredients are pantry staples available at any Charlotte grocer—cream and whiskey cost the most, but a bottle of Jameson and heavy cream run under $25 combined and yield many servings. The stated 10 minutes is honest; whipped cream takes five of that, and you're genuinely done. This is a dessert drink that reheats poorly but shines as a same-night finish to a dinner party, and the cost per serving lands around $1.50 to $2 depending on whiskey choice. The only real constraint is that it demands good coffee and a steady hand when pouring, making it less forgiving than a batch dessert.
