Ingredients

1 1/2 teaspoons butter

1 cup cabbage, finely shredded

1/8 teaspoon salt

black pepper to taste

2 tablespoons water

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions

  1. Wash and dry the cabbage, then finely shred it using a sharp knife or mandoline. Set aside.

  2. Melt the butter in a heavy-bottomed saucepan or skillet over medium heat, swirling to coat the bottom evenly.

  3. Add the shredded cabbage to the hot butter and season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  4. Pour the water over the cabbage to create steam.

  5. Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid to trap the steam and help the cabbage cook evenly.

  6. Reduce heat to low and cook for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking, until the cabbage becomes tender and translucent.

  7. Remove from heat, drizzle with lemon juice, and serve immediately while still warm.
