Ingredients
1 sugar cube
2 ounces Irish whiskey
1 cup About 1 cup hot black coffee
2 tablespoons softly whipped unsweetened heavy cream
5 drops crème de menthe
Directions
Place the sugar cube into a warm Irish coffee glass or mug.
Pour the Irish whiskey over the sugar cube into the glass.
Fill the glass nearly to the rim with hot black coffee, stirring gently to dissolve the sugar.
Whip the heavy cream to soft peaks until it reaches a pourable consistency.
Using the back of a spoon, slowly pour the softly whipped cream over the surface of the coffee to create a 3/4-inch-thick layer that floats on top.
Drizzle 5 drops of crème de menthe onto the cream layer for garnish.
Serve immediately while the coffee is hot and the cream is still floating on top.
