Ingredients

1 teaspoon rapid-rise yeast

1/2 cup lukewarm water

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 cup bread flour, plus more as needed

Directions

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before beginning.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rapid-rise yeast, lukewarm water, salt, and olive oil. Stir until the yeast dissolves and the ingredients are well blended.

  3. Gradually add the bread flour to the wet mixture, stirring with a wooden spoon or your hand until a stiff dough begins to form. You may need slightly more or less flour depending on humidity; add flour in small amounts if the dough is too wet, or a splash of water if it is too dry.

  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until it becomes very elastic and smooth. The dough should stretch without tearing when gently pulled.

  5. Lightly oil a baking sheet. Using a rolling pin or the back of a clean bottle, flatten and stretch the dough to your desired thickness, then transfer it to the prepared baking sheet.

  6. Allow the crust to rise for 10–15 minutes while you prepare your pizza toppings.

  7. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Add your desired pizza toppings to the risen crust.

  8. Bake for 18–22 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the cheese and toppings are bubbly and cooked through. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
