Ingredients

1 large egg

1 whole wheat hamburger bun

1 tablespoon part-skim mozzarella cheese, shredded

3 slices pepperoni (optional)

1 tablespoon pizza sauce

Non-stick cooking spray

Directions

  1. Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and warm water before handling the raw egg.

  2. Coat a small non-stick skillet with cooking spray and place it over medium heat.

  3. Once the pan is hot, crack the egg directly into the skillet and immediately break the yolk with a spatula or fork to create a scrambled-style base.

  4. Cook the egg for 2-3 minutes until the white is set and opaque. Flip the egg over carefully using a spatula.

  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the cooked side of the egg. If using pepperoni, arrange the slices on top of the cheese.

  6. Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese is fully melted. The egg should be cooked through with no runny white remaining.

  7. While the cheese melts, split open the hamburger bun and spread the pizza sauce on both halves.

  8. Using a spatula, carefully transfer the cooked egg with melted cheese and pepperoni onto the sauce-spread bun and serve immediately.
