Ingredients

1 large banana

1 cup sweet cream coffee creamer

1 small box instant banana pudding mix

1 cup whole milk

16 shortbread tartlet shells

1/2 cup whipped topping, thawed

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant banana pudding mix, sweet cream creamer, and milk until well combined.

  2. Continue whisking for 1–2 minutes until the mixture reaches a slightly thickened consistency with no lumps.

  3. Refrigerate the pudding mixture for 5–8 minutes to allow it to set properly.

  4. While the pudding chills, carefully remove all 16 tartlet shells from their packaging and arrange them on a serving tray.

  5. Transfer the thawed whipped topping to a piping bag fitted with a decorative tip.

  6. Remove the pudding from the refrigerator and spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of the banana pudding mixture into the bottom of each tartlet shell. (Some pudding may remain.)

  7. Slice the banana into thin rounds and place one slice on top of the pudding in each tartlet.

  8. Pipe a small dollop of whipped topping onto each tartlet, centering it over the banana slice.

  9. Serve the tartlets immediately, or cover and refrigerate for up to 3 hours before serving.

The ten-minute timer ignores refrigeration: this needs at least two hours in the cold to set, so it is a make-ahead dish, not a weeknight assembly job. All ingredients land at any Charlotte supermarket—bananas, pudding mix, and tartlet shells at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Publix, Walmart, or ALDI—and the total cost per tartlet runs around 50 cents, driven mainly by the tartlet shells themselves. The real catch is fussiness: you are using coffee creamer as a base (an unusual choice that needs careful whisking), and the banana pudding mix alone carries a lot of salt and artificial flavor, so the tartlet works best as a potluck dessert where the small portion and sweetness shine, not as everyday cooking. If you have tartlet shells on hand and two hours to spare, this is a bargain; if you are shopping specifically for it, budget for a box of shells and expect a texture that is custard-like and sweet rather than fresh.
