Ingredients
4 All beef hot dogs
4 Hot dog buns
1 cup Sauerkraut
½ cup Russian dressing
⅓ pound Pastrami deli meat, sliced
Directions
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Place the hot dogs in the skillet and sear for 12–15 minutes, turning occasionally, until heated through and lightly browned on all sides.
Add the pastrami slices to the skillet and warm through for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Lightly toast the hot dog buns. Place each hot dog into a bun, then top with a portion of the warm pastrami.
Add sauerkraut on top of the pastrami, then drizzle with Russian dressing.
Serve immediately while warm.
Comments
All five ingredients land easily at any Charlotte grocery chain—hot dogs and buns are universal, sauerkraut sits in the condiment aisle at Harris Teeter or Food Lion, Russian dressing is a standard shelf item, and pastrami (sliced, ready-to-eat deli meat) is available at the deli counter or packaged section at Walmart, Kroger, or ALDI. The 30-minute stated time is honest for assembly only, though you'll need a few minutes to warm the pastrami and assemble the slaw topping if you're not buying pre-dressed sauerkraut. At current prices, expect roughly $2 per serving for decent-quality hot dogs and deli pastrami, with sauerkraut and dressing adding another quarter-dollar or so. This feeds four as a casual weeknight dinner or lunch, requires zero technique, and reheats adequately if you store the components separately—though the bun will firm up and the sauerkraut will lose crunch.
