Ingredients
½ pizza dough (half batch or equivalent)
2 tablespoons olive oil
¾ cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (additional)
¼ cup white granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
cinnamon sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon real maple syrup
1 tablespoon heavy cream
Directions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Generously coat a 9-inch round cake pan with olive oil, ensuring the bottom and sides are well coated.
Place your pizza dough ball into the prepared pan and gently press and stretch it outward with your fingertips until it covers the bottom and starts to creep up the sides of the pan.
Lightly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the unbaked dough crust.
In a food processor, combine the flour (¾ cup plus 2 tablespoons), white sugar, salt, and cold butter pieces. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs, then sprinkle this streusel mixture evenly over the cinnamon-sugared crust.
Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the crust is light golden brown and the streusel topping is crispy and golden. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and heavy cream until smooth. Add a little water or milk, one teaspoon at a time, to reach your desired drizzling consistency.
Drizzle the maple glaze over the warm dessert pizza in a decorative pattern.
Cut the pizza into 8 wedges and serve warm, with coffee or cold milk.
Comments
This is a smart pantry play: every ingredient is standard grocery-store stock at any of the six Charlotte chains, with no special stops required. At roughly $1.50 to $2.00 per serving, it's genuinely affordable, though the real cost driver is the butter and heavy cream in the streusel and drizzle. The 45-minute stated time is honest if you're using store-bought pizza dough; if you're making dough from scratch, add 90 minutes and plan accordingly. It's a forgiving, assembly-heavy dessert that feeds eight and reheats reasonably well, though it's best same-night when the cinnamon streusel stays crisp—watch for sogginess if you store it uncovered.
