Ingredients
3 cups Fresh cranberries
1 Orange
1 cup Granulated sugar
Directions
Wash the cranberries under cool running water and drain well. Wash your hands with soap and water before proceeding.
Rinse the orange and carefully peel away the colored zest, removing as much white pith as possible. Peel away the remaining white skin and separate the segments, removing any seeds.
For a smooth sauce: Add the cranberries, orange segments, and sugar to a blender. Blend on high speed until the mixture reaches your desired smoothness, about 1-2 minutes.
Transfer the blended mixture to a saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and reaches your preferred consistency, about 8-10 minutes.
For a chunky sauce alternative: Skip the blending step and instead place the cranberries, orange segments, and sugar directly in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries soften and the sauce thickens, about 12-15 minutes. The berries will naturally break down as they cook.
Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool to room temperature, which will help it thicken further. Serve warm or at room temperature alongside turkey or other poultry.
