Spinach, Bacon and Strawberry Salad
Recipe GLPR7304a91e88cad9
A fresh and vibrant salad combining tender baby spinach with crispy bacon, sweet candied walnuts, and bright strawberries, all tossed together with tangy poppy seed dressing. The contrast of creamy greens, crunchy nuts, and juicy fruit makes this a delightful side or light main course.

Ingredients
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
1/4 cup brown sugar
5 cups baby spinach
1/2 cup bacon, crumbled
3/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
3/4 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
2 to 3 tablespoons poppy seed dressing
Directions
Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped walnuts and brown sugar, stirring constantly to ensure all the sugar dissolves and the walnuts become evenly coated, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Pour the candied walnuts onto a baking sheet and spread them out in a single layer. Allow to cool completely, about 2 minutes, until the coating has hardened.
In a large bowl, combine the baby spinach, cooled candied walnuts, crumbled bacon, chopped red onion, and sliced strawberries.
Drizzle the poppy seed dressing over the salad to taste and toss gently until all ingredients are well combined.
Divide between two serving plates and enjoy immediately.
Comments
All ingredients are standard finds at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Walmart, and Kroger—no special trips needed. The real time is closer to 15 minutes once you cook bacon to crispy, toast the candied walnuts (which the recipe omits but clearly intends), and cut the strawberries; the stated 10 minutes assumes these are already done. Cost per serving lands around $5–6, driven by bacon and walnuts, which is reasonable for a composed salad. This reheats poorly (wilted greens, soft berries), so it's strictly a same-night dish, and the flavor combination is crowd-pleasing enough for a weeknight dinner for two, though it skews light on protein for a main course."
