Ingredients

1/4 cup cornstarch

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 cups whole milk

7 ounces bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped

1 and 2/3 cups dulce de leche

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cornstarch and sugar until combined. Gradually add the whole milk, whisking constantly to dissolve the cornstarch and prevent lumps from forming.

  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring frequently with a whisk or wooden spoon, until the mixture comes to a gentle boil. Continue cooking and stirring for 1 minute until the mixture thickens noticeably.

  3. Remove the saucepan from heat. Add the chopped bittersweet chocolate to the hot pudding base and let it sit undisturbed for 1 minute to allow the chocolate to soften.

  4. Whisk the chocolate into the pudding until completely smooth and well combined. The residual heat will fully melt the chocolate.

  5. Divide the warm chocolate pudding evenly among six serving cups or bowls. Allow the pudding to cool slightly at room temperature for about 5 minutes.

  6. Top each cup with approximately 1/4 cup of dulce de leche, spooning it over the chocolate pudding layer. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving, or until completely chilled.
