Ingredients
3 cups freshly squeezed orange juice (blood orange or regular orange juice)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
Directions
Pour 1 cup of the orange juice into a small nonreactive saucepan.
Add the sugar to the saucepan with the orange juice.
Stir the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly, until all the sugar has completely dissolved. This should take about 3–5 minutes. Do not allow the mixture to boil.
Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
Pour the warm sugar-juice mixture into a bowl with the remaining 2 cups of orange juice and stir well to combine.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture until it is completely chilled, at least 2 hours or overnight.
Transfer the chilled juice mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until the sorbet reaches the desired consistency.
Serve immediately for soft sorbet, or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 2–3 hours for a firmer texture.
