Ingredients

1 cup granulated sugar

5 cups water

4 green tea bags

6 ounces fresh blackberries

1 cup fresh lemon juice

8 fresh mint leaves

ice

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely, about 3-4 minutes. This creates your simple syrup.

  2. Remove the simple syrup from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature before using.

  3. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a kettle or pot.

  4. Place the 4 green tea bags in a large pitcher and carefully pour the hot water over them.

  5. Let the tea steep for 10 minutes, then remove and discard the tea bags.

  6. While the tea brews, process the fresh blackberries in a food processor until completely pureed, then strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove all seeds.

  7. Add the blackberry puree and mint leaves to the brewed tea and stir well to combine.

  8. In a separate large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice with 2 cups of water and fill with ice.

  9. Pour the cooled simple syrup into the lemon-water pitcher and stir well.

  10. Transfer the blackberry-mint tea into the lemonade pitcher and stir thoroughly to combine all components.

  11. Chill the mixture further if needed and serve over ice in glasses.
