Ingredients

1 tbsp olive oil

1 large sweet onion, thinly sliced

2 tbsp sour cream

2 tbsp mayonnaise

1 tbsp prepared horseradish, squeezed of excess moisture

1 tsp whole grain mustard

10-inch flour wraps

2 bunch watercress, thick stems discarded

1 lb roast beef, thinly sliced

Directions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook covered, stirring occasionally, until the onions are deeply caramelized and very tender, approximately 12 to 15 minutes.

  2. While the onions cook, combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, horseradish, and whole grain mustard in a small bowl. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well blended.

  3. Lay out each wrap on a clean surface. Spread a portion of the horseradish cream mixture evenly across each wrap, leaving a small border around the edges.

  4. Layer watercress over the spread on each wrap, followed by the caramelized onions and thinly sliced roast beef, dividing ingredients evenly among the four wraps.

  5. Roll each wrap tightly, starting from one long edge and tucking in the sides as you go to seal in the filling. Slice in half if desired and serve immediately.

This is a quick assembly dish that actually takes about 10 minutes of hands-on work; the 45-minute claim likely pads for passive time or assumes you're starting from a raw onion. Horseradish and watercress are the real constraints: watercress may require a second stop at Harris Teeter's produce section or Kroger, and prepared horseradish costs $3–4 for a jar you'll use mostly once, pushing the per-serving cost above $4 even with deli roast beef. The wraps themselves feed four easily and reheat fine, making them solid for weeknight leftovers, but the sauce-based filling means they're best eaten same-day before sogginess sets in. Budget the extra stop for watercress and the horseradish jar if you don't stock it.
