1 tsp Salt
⅛ tsp Black pepper
3 tbsp Butter
4 cups Potatoes, thinly sliced
2 cups Whole milk, scalded
½ cup Shredded cheddar cheese
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F. Butter a 2-quart baking dish and set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and black pepper.
Arrange one-third of the thinly sliced potatoes as an even layer in the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle half of the flour mixture evenly over the potato layer.
Add another one-third of the potatoes as a second layer, then sprinkle the remaining flour mixture over top.
Finish with the final layer of remaining potato slices and dot the surface with small pieces of butter.
Pour the hot scalded milk evenly over all the potatoes.
Cover the baking dish with foil and bake at 375°F for 45 minutes.
Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top, and return to the oven uncovered.
Bake for an additional 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted and golden.
