4 cups Corn Chex cereal
1 cup peanut butter chips
1 tablespoon shortening
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
4 regular sized peanut butter cups, chopped
3/4 cup peanut butter candy pieces
Directions
Pour the powdered sugar into a large resealable plastic bag and set aside. Fill a pot with water and bring to a gentle simmer. Place a heat-safe bowl on top of the pot (making sure the bottom doesn't touch the water) to create a double boiler setup. Add the peanut butter chips and shortening to the bowl and stir frequently until completely melted and smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
Carefully remove the bowl from the heat. Add the Corn Chex cereal to the melted peanut butter mixture and stir constantly until every piece is evenly coated with the peanut butter mixture, about 2-3 minutes.
Spoon the coated cereal into the plastic bag with the powdered sugar, seal the bag, and shake vigorously for 1-2 minutes until all the cereal is fully coated with the powdered sugar.
Chop each peanut butter cup into 8 small pieces. Spread the powdered sugar-coated cereal onto a large baking sheet and let cool to room temperature, about 15-20 minutes.
