1 ounce vodka
1 bottle hard cider, chilled (12 fl oz)

Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds until the mixture is well chilled.

Comments
A cocktail with completely standard, always-in-stock ingredients at any Charlotte grocer—cranberry and orange juice are pantry staples, vodka and hard cider are ubiquitous, and a fresh apple is 50 cents at most. The 45-minute stated time is honest if it accounts for chilling glasses or batching; a single drink takes five minutes. At roughly $3–4 per serving, this lands right for a casual happy hour or evening wind-down. The only real caveat is that it's a single-serve recipe with no leftovers—batch it if you're making for more than one person, or multiply the ingredients by however many guests you have.
