A tender, succulent pork shoulder slowly braised with citrus soda, garlic, chili powder, oregano, and Worcestershire sauce, then shredded and finished with a balsamic glaze before a quick oven crisping. The result is a versatile, saucy pulled pork that's perfect on sandwiches or served alongside your favorite sides. This nearly hands-off recipe delivers restaurant-quality flavor with minimal effort.

Ingredients
3 lb Pork shoulder
1 cup Lemon-lime soda
2 tsp Garlic, minced
2 tsp Chili powder
1 tsp Ground oregano
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup Balsamic vinaigrette dressing
Directions
Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker and add the soda, minced garlic, chili powder, ground oregano, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir gently to combine. Cover and cook on high for 4 to 5 hours, or on low for 6 to 8 hours, until the meat is very tender and pulls apart easily with a fork.
Using two forks, shred the pork directly in the slow cooker into bite-sized pieces. Stir in the balsamic vinaigrette dressing and mix thoroughly with the cooking liquid until the shredded meat is evenly coated and saucy.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (or set to broil if preferred). Transfer the pork mixture to a foil-lined baking sheet and spread it into an even, thin layer. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes (or 5 to 10 minutes if using broil) until the juices are bubbling and the edges are crispy and caramelized.
Transfer the finished pork to a serving platter and serve warm on sandwiches, with baked potatoes, or as desired.
Comments
This is a genuinely low-effort weeknight win: dump everything into the slow cooker and walk away for eight hours, with all ingredients available at any Charlotte chain (Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Walmart, ALDI, Kroger banners carry pork shoulder and the pantry staples). At roughly $1.20 per serving for a 10-person batch, pork shoulder costs almost nothing here in the South, and the soda-based braising liquid is cheap seasoning that tenderizes meat without fuss. The stated 545 minutes—nine hours—is honest and realistic for slow-cooker cooking; there is genuinely nothing to do after the initial two-minute assembly. This reheats beautifully and feeds a crowd with zero technique required, making it ideal for busy families or meal prep; the only caveat is that it demands advance planning for that full cook time, which some weeknights do not allow.
