Ingredients
4-5 large fresh peaches
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
6 tablespoons butter, melted
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Prepare the peaches: carefully cut each peach in half lengthwise around the pit, then gently remove and discard the pit. Peel away the skin and slice the peaches into thin slices, transferring them to a large mixing bowl.
Sprinkle the cornstarch and ground nutmeg over the sliced peaches, then gently toss to combine, ensuring the spices are evenly distributed throughout the fruit.
Pour the peach mixture into a 9×9-inch baking dish, spreading it in an even layer.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, oats, and brown sugar. Drizzle the melted butter over the mixture and stir with a fork until the ingredients form a coarse, crumbly texture resembling breadcrumbs.
Spread the oat topping evenly over the peach layer in the baking dish, breaking up any large clumps with your fingers.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the peaches have softened (test by inserting the tip of a sharp knife into the peach mixture—it should slide through easily) and the top is lightly golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow the crisp to cool for several minutes before serving. Serve warm on its own or with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
