Ingredients
1 ounce unsweetened baker's chocolate, chopped
½ banana, mashed
¼ cup dark chocolate chips
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
1-2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 cups milk
1 cup steel cut oats
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups water
cacao nibs for garnish
Directions
Pour the milk and water into a medium saucepan and bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and maintain a gentle simmer.
Add the steel cut oats, mashed banana, salt, and cocoa powder to the simmering liquid. Whisk together until well combined and no lumps remain.
Stir in the chopped baker's chocolate and dark chocolate chips, stirring constantly until both are completely melted and incorporated into the oatmeal.
Continue stirring frequently for approximately 20 minutes, until the oatmeal reaches your desired thickness and most of the liquid has been absorbed. The oats should be creamy and tender.
Remove from heat and stir in maple syrup to taste, adjusting the sweetness to your preference. Divide among serving bowls.
Top each bowl with a garnish of cacao nibs and serve immediately while hot.
