Ingredients
2 tablespoons canned chipotles in adobo sauce, pureed
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 clove garlic, minced
1 lb extra lean ground turkey
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
Directions
In a large bowl, combine the pureed chipotles in adobo, chili powder, minced garlic, ground turkey, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently with your hands until all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the meat, being careful not to overwork the mixture.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to fully develop and meld.
Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions and gently shape each into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Using your thumb, press a small indentation into the center of one side of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill with the indented side down. Cook for 4–5 minutes without moving or pressing on them.
Flip the burgers and cook for another 4–5 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and there is no pink remaining inside. Avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking, as this will squeeze out the juices.
Transfer the cooked burgers to a serving plate. Serve immediately on hamburger buns (if using), topped with sliced avocado and fresh nectarine salsa.
