Ingredients
5 Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cut into uniform chunks
3 cloves Garlic cloves
Sea salt, plus more to taste
1½ tbsp Butter
¼ cup Whole milk
1 tbsp Sour cream
½ cup Extra sharp white cheddar cheese, grated
Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
Directions
Peel and cut the Yukon gold potatoes into uniformly sized chunks, about 2 inches in diameter.
Place the potato chunks and garlic cloves into a large pot. Add a pinch of sea salt and cover with cold water by approximately 1 inch.
Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer gently until the potatoes are very tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 15 to 18 minutes.
Pour the potatoes and garlic into a colander and drain thoroughly, discarding the cooking water.
In a microwave-safe container, heat the butter and milk together for about 30 seconds until the butter is melted and the milk is warm.
Return the drained potatoes and garlic to the pot. Pour in the warm milk mixture and add the sour cream and grated white cheddar cheese.
Using a hand masher, mash the potatoes until you reach your desired consistency—smooth and creamy. Season to taste with sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and serve hot. Enjoy.
