Ingredients

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

3 cups mini marshmallows

Sprinkles for topping (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and set aside.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and cocoa powder until smooth and fully combined.

  3. Add the granulated sugar to the cocoa mixture and stir until well blended.

  4. Add the eggs one at a time to the bowl, stirring after each addition until fully incorporated.

  5. Mix in the vanilla extract and salt.

  6. Gently fold in the flour until just combined and no lumps remain. Fold in 3/4 cup of the chocolate chips.

  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 18 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is still moist.

  8. Carefully remove the brownies from the oven and evenly distribute the mini marshmallows and remaining chocolate chips over the warm surface.

  9. Return to the oven and bake for 2-3 minutes more, until the marshmallows are puffed up and just beginning to turn golden brown.

  10. Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool completely at room temperature before cutting into squares. If desired, top with sprinkles. Store covered at room temperature.

Every ingredient is a staple at every major Charlotte chain—flour, cocoa, butter, sugar, eggs, chocolate chips, and marshmallows are all standard finds at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Kroger, Publix, Walmart, and ALDI. The cost per serving is very low, roughly 50–70 cents depending on chocolate chip and marshmallow quality, since you're stretching 24 brownies from basic pantry items. The stated 35 minutes is honest for mixing and baking, though add 10 minutes if you're not using pre-melted butter. This feeds a crowd easily and requires no active attention after it goes in the oven, making it solid for families or potlucks. Marshmallow brownies reheat adequately, though they're best fresh from the oven; the marshmallow topping can turn gummy if stored improperly. The only minor friction is that decorative sprinkles aren't essential to the recipe itself, so the ingredient list wastes a line item.
