Ingredients
1 cup heavy cream
¼ cup sugar
3 cups strong hot coffee
4 oz. Irish whiskey
2 teaspoons light brown sugar
Chocolate shavings for garnish
Directions
Warm 4 coffee mugs by filling each with hot water and allowing to sit for 2 minutes. Discard the water carefully.
Divide the light brown sugar evenly between the warmed mugs, using ½ teaspoon per mug.
Pour the hot strong coffee into each mug, dividing equally, and stir well until the brown sugar completely dissolves.
Add 1 ounce of Irish whiskey to each mug and stir gently to combine.
Pour the cold heavy cream into a bowl and whisk using an electric mixer on medium speed or by hand with a whisk until soft peaks form. The cream should be thick and hold a shape but remain pourable and not stiff.
Pour the whipped cream slowly over the back of a warm bar spoon held just above the surface of each coffee, allowing the cream to layer gently on top of the hot coffee. The cream should sit as a thick layer above the coffee without fully mixing in.
Garnish each mug with a small amount of chocolate shavings sprinkled over the whipped cream layer. Serve immediately.
