Ingredients

12 large eggs

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon white vinegar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

1 can (6 oz) pitted black olives, drained

Paprika, for dusting

Directions

  1. Put the eggs in a large pot in a single layer, cover with cold water by 1 inch and bring to a boil.

  2. Turn off the heat, cover and let the eggs stand for 12 minutes. Move them to a bowl of ice water to cool, then peel.

  3. Cut the eggs in half lengthwise and pop the yolks into a bowl. Mash the yolks with the mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt and pepper until smooth.

  4. Spoon or pipe the filling back into the egg whites and dust lightly with paprika.

  5. Cut 12 olives in half lengthwise. Lay one half, cut side down, on each egg as the spider body.

  6. Slice the remaining olives into thin strips and lay four on each side of every body for the legs. Chill until serving.
