Ingredients

2 bag Black tea bags

4 cup Water

½ cup Tart cherry juice

½ cup Fresh mint leaves

3 handful Ice

4 slices Lemon slices

¼ cup Frozen tart cherries, optional for garnish

Directions

  1. Bring water to a boil in a kettle or pot. Pour the hot water into a large pitcher and add the black tea bags. Let steep for 3–5 minutes, then remove the tea bags. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes, or refrigerate to speed up the process.

  2. Fill four glasses with ice. Divide the cooled tea evenly among the glasses.

  3. Add 2 tablespoons of tart cherry juice to each glass, then stir in a few fresh mint leaves and a lemon slice into each serving.

  4. Taste and adjust the tart cherry juice level in each glass as desired. Garnish with frozen tart cherries if using. Serve immediately.

Tart cherry juice and frozen tart cherries are both reliably stocked at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Kroger, and Walmart across Charlotte, making this a straightforward shop. The 45-minute time is honest for steeping tea and chilling, and at roughly $1.50 per serving driven by the cherry juice, it lands well for a cold drink. This is a non-fussy recipe that requires no special technique and reheats (or rather, rechills) without issue. The only caveat is that tart cherry products cost more than standard juice alternatives, so it is worth buying the larger bottle to stretch the value across multiple batches.
