Ingredients
10 Pitted dates, coarsely chopped
1½ cups Milk
1 small scoop Vanilla ice cream, optional
Directions
Remove the pit from each date and coarsely chop the dates into bite-sized pieces.
Place the chopped dates in a blender with ½ cup of milk. Blend on high speed until the mixture becomes a smooth, thick puree.
Add the remaining 1 cup of milk and the vanilla ice cream (if using) to the blender.
Blend until smooth and well combined. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
Comments
This is honest work: dates, milk, and vanilla ice cream blend into a genuinely simple drink in the stated time, with no hidden prep. A serving runs about $1.50 to $2, depending on date quality, which is reasonable for a treat. All three ingredients stock reliably at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, and Walmart throughout the year. The only soft spot is that dates are best when fresh, and Charlotte's supply can be thin in summer—dried dates work fine but taste less bright, and the drink doesn't reheat, so it's a same-night pleasure that won't stretch into leftovers.
