Ingredients
1¾ ounces Irish whiskey
4 ounces Fresh-brewed hot coffee
¾ ounce Simple syrup
Heavy cream, lightly whipped
Directions
Brew fresh coffee and have it ready in a warm pot or carafe.
Pour the Irish whiskey into two warm coffee mugs or Irish coffee glasses, dividing evenly between them (approximately 1.75 ounces per serving).
Add half of the simple syrup to each mug (about 0.375 ounces per mug).
Fill each mug with 2 ounces of the hot brewed coffee and stir well to dissolve the syrup.
Lightly whip the heavy cream until it just begins to form soft peaks and is pourable but holds a slight foam.
Gently pour or spoon the lightly whipped cream over the surface of each coffee, allowing it to float on top. The warmth of the coffee will slightly warm the cream while maintaining its creamy texture.
Serve immediately and enjoy while warm.
Comments
All four ingredients are stocked at every major Charlotte chain, making this a no-excursion drink. The cost per serving runs about $2.50 to $3.50 depending on whiskey choice, affordable for a special treat. The five-minute time is honest and accurate—brew coffee, heat a mug, pour, stir. This is not a weeknight crowd-pleaser for families with young children who don't drink alcohol, and the heavy cream requires same-night use, but for two adults seeking a quick evening drink or dessert course, it's reliably good.
