Ingredients
¼ cup chia seeds
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp coconut oil
2 oz dark chocolate, chopped
4 pitted dates
2 tbsp hemp protein powder
4 cups crushed ice
¼ cup pure maple syrup
⅓ cup natural peanut butter
1 tbsp slivered almonds
2 cups unsweetened soy milk
1 tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut
Directions
In a blender, combine the soy milk, peanut butter, maple syrup, dates, crushed ice, chopped dark chocolate, chia seeds, and hemp protein powder. Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, about 1–2 minutes. If you prefer a thicker consistency, add more crushed ice and blend again.
While the blizzard blends, pour the cocoa powder and coconut oil into a microwave-safe glass. Microwave on high for 1 minute, stirring halfway through, until the coconut oil is fully melted and the mixture forms a smooth chocolate sauce.
Divide the blended mixture evenly among four serving glasses.
Drizzle the warm chocolate sauce over each serving, then top with the slivered almonds and shredded coconut, distributing evenly.
Serve immediately with spoons or wide straws while the blizzard is still frozen and the chocolate topping is still warm.
Comments
Hemp protein powder and chia seeds are not standard stock at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, or ALDI in Charlotte—you'll need a trip to Whole Foods or Earth Fare, which adds real cost and time to a "10-minute" recipe. The stated time ignores blending, straining, and freezing; realistically this is a two-day project or a same-day wait of 4+ hours. At roughly $3.50 per serving for the specialty proteins alone, this is a premium smoothie bowl, not a budget weeknight option. It's a fussy dish that rewards planning and pays off for someone building a health-focused rotation, but not for spontaneous cooking.
