Ingredients
1 pint Fresh strawberries
1 quart Simple syrup (1:1 ratio of sugar to water)
6 ounces Gin
2 ounces Campari
3 ounces Fresh lime juice
Fresh basil leaves
Directions
Rinse the fresh strawberries and remove the stems and leaves. Slice the strawberries into quarters.
In a large pitcher or bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with the simple syrup. Gently crush the strawberries to release their juices, allowing them to infuse into the syrup.
Add the gin, Campari, and fresh lime juice to the strawberry mixture. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
Tear several fresh basil leaves and add them to the pitcher. Stir gently to incorporate the basil flavor.
Transfer the mixture to a shallow freezer-safe container, spreading it evenly. Place in the freezer for approximately 2 hours.
Using a fork, scrape the frozen mixture from the edges and bottom toward the center to break up ice crystals and create a slushy consistency. Return to the freezer.
Repeat the scraping process every 30 minutes for the next 2 hours until the entire mixture reaches a uniform slush texture.
Divide the slushito among eight chilled glasses and serve immediately. Garnish each serving with a fresh basil leaf if desired.
