Ingredients
1 pound fresh okra pods, whole and trimmed
1/2 cup butter, melted
Kosher or sea salt, to taste
Directions
Fill a pot with about 1-2 inches of water and place a steamer basket inside. Bring the water to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
While the water heats, rinse the whole okra pods under cool running water and pat them dry with paper towels. Trim the stem ends, being careful not to cut into the pod itself.
Once the water is steaming, carefully arrange the okra pods in the steamer basket in a single layer. Cover the pot with a lid.
Steam the okra for 12-15 minutes, until the pods are tender when pierced with a fork but still hold their shape and maintain a bright green color.
Transfer the steamed okra to a serving dish and immediately drizzle with the melted butter, coating all the pods evenly.
Season generously with kosher or sea salt to taste. Toss gently to combine and serve warm.
