Ingredients
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 pound ground beef sirloin
1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¾ teaspoon ground coriander
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 head green cabbage, cored and chopped (about 4 cups)
1 white onion, sliced
½ cup golden raisins
¼ cup canned tomato puree
2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
Steamed white rice, for serving
Directions
Heat canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, add the ground beef sirloin and cook, breaking it into smaller pieces with a spoon, until the meat is browned and no pink remains, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
Sprinkle the kosher salt, ground cinnamon, ground coriander, and black pepper over the cooked beef. Stir well to coat the meat evenly with the spices.
Add the chopped green cabbage and sliced white onion to the skillet. Stir to combine with the beef and spices, then cover and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage begins to soften.
Stir in the golden raisins and tomato puree, mixing thoroughly to distribute the ingredients evenly. Cover the skillet and continue cooking for another 3 to 5 minutes until the cabbage is tender and the flavors meld together.
Remove from heat and stir in the chopped fresh parsley. Taste and adjust seasonings if desired. Serve the beef and cabbage mixture over steamed white rice.
